Grab to Acquire 60% of Atome Financial for $1.49 Billion

Grab will acquire a 60% stake in Atome Financial for $1.49 billion. Under the deal, Atome is valued between $2 billion and $4.5 billion. The acquisition of the remaining 40% is planned for approximately two years from now, with the final price to be determined based on the company's revenue and profit at that time.
Atome offers customers installment plans, consumer loans, and other digital financial services. It already operates its own installment service in Malaysia and Singapore. With the acquisition of Atome, the company will expand into the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand. Grab also owns three digital banks, which will make it easier to fund Atome's loans and reduce costs.
Grab has also raised its financial forecast for 2028 and now expects adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) of $1.7 billion. Following the acquisition of Atome, the company's financial services credit portfolio is expected to exceed $6 billion. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2027.
