Microsoft to Spend Over $10 Billion in Gulf Countries

Microsoft plans to spend more than $10 billion in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait by 2030. The funds will go toward cloud services, artificial intelligence infrastructure and expanding regional operations.

According to company president Brad Smith, Microsoft is increasing spending despite the ongoing war in the Middle East.

One of the plan's key focuses is protecting digital infrastructure. Microsoft will help local organizations safeguard critical data and prepare for potential attacks. During the war, attacks also extended to data centers, affecting Amazon's AWS facilities in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates as well.

Microsoft will spend more than an additional $400 million by 2030 on undersea and terrestrial communication networks. The company is partnering with the UAE's G42, Saudi Arabia's Humain and Qatar's Qai.
