Applied Materials Plans $5 Billion Investment in India

American Applied Materials plans to invest $5 billion in India over the next ten years.
The main part of the plan is the creation of a semiconductor research center on a 140-acre site. Applied Materials also plans to expand its collaboration with local companies in India. The company's goal is to increase the capabilities of its manufacturing partners in the country tenfold by 2035. The number of employees working in research and development will also grow.
Applied Materials already has 7,000 employees in India. The company does not manufacture chips itself. Its products and technologies are used in chip manufacturing.
The investment is also linked to India's effort to secure a significant place in the global semiconductor industry. Demand for chips is growing in the country, and the government is actively supporting the development of local manufacturing and research.
