# Natural Gas Prices Decline in Europe

Natural Gas Prices in Europe Decline for First Time in a Year

Natural gas prices in Europe have declined on a quarterly basis for the first time in the past year. The main reasons for the decrease are the cheapening of oil and the partial stabilization of maritime shipping in the Middle East.

Europe's main reference price, the Dutch TTF contract, stands at approximately 43.44 euros per megawatt-hour. Although prices have risen slightly in recent days, they remain lower on a quarterly basis.

Market conditions shifted after cargo movements through the Strait of Hormuz became relatively stable. This is a significant route, as approximately one-fifth of the world's liquefied natural gas passes through it. The restoration of shipping for vessels coming from Qatar and the United Arab Emirates has reduced supply-related risks.

Oil's cheapening has also affected prices. As oil prices returned to pre-war levels, tension in the energy market eased. However, steeper declines in gas prices in Europe are being hindered by low storage levels in the region.

Currently, Europe's gas storage facilities are approximately 48% full. This is lower than the same period last year, which was 56.2%, and below the five-year average of 61%.
