# Google's New Agreement Aims to Reduce Energy Costs

Google and Voltus have entered into a three-year agreement aimed at reducing the load on the power system and improving energy efficiency. According to assessments, widespread implementation of a similar approach could save American consumers over $100 billion in the coming years.
The project covers the PJM region in the United States, which represents one of the country's largest electrical systems. Under the agreement, Voltus will use devices such as smart thermostats and energy storage systems to temporarily reduce consumption during periods of high electricity demand. As a result, grid load will decrease and existing resources will be distributed more efficiently.
Households and businesses participating in the program will receive financial compensation in exchange for energy savings. According to Google, this approach will help develop a more stable, efficient, and accessible energy system. At the same time, it will strengthen the energy infrastructure that the company's data centers rely on.
According to research, wider adoption of similar technologies in future years could significantly reduce both energy costs and the load on the electrical system.
