Ukraine's Strikes on Russian Energy Facilities Deepen Disagreement Between Trump and Zelensky

Ukraine's strikes on Russian energy facilities have sparked a new disagreement between Washington and Kyiv. The US is urging Ukraine to halt the attacks, while Kyiv maintains that such strikes are one of its main response tools amid prolonged Russian bombardment.
The issue is also tied to energy prices for the Trump administration. Following the war with Iran, higher prices for diesel and other energy resources have fueled inflation-related discontent in the US. On October 9, Trump announced that he had agreed with Russia on its return to the global diesel market. During the same period, some of the sanctions imposed on Russia were temporarily suspended.
According to Zelensky, American military officials told their Ukrainian counterparts that if strikes on Russian energy facilities continue, the US could limit intelligence sharing, though an American official denied this information.
Representatives of Ukraine, Russia, and the US are planning to meet in Abu Dhabi in the first half of November.
