Bitcoin Maintains Its Edge Against Legislative Uncertainty

Before the US reaches a final agreement on cryptocurrency regulation, Bitcoin remains one of the most reliable digital assets for investors.

The US House of Representatives passed the CLARITY Act on digital assets last year, but it has been stalled in the Senate since then, and its approval is not expected in the near future.

The disagreement primarily concerns revenue from stablecoins and rules for public officials to declare crypto assets. The existing uncertainty particularly affects cryptocurrencies such as XRP and Solana, as well as stablecoins, for which clear legal frameworks are essential.

Bitcoin's situation is different. The US Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission do not classify it as a security and treat it as a digital commodity, so its legal status is less dependent on the passage of new legislation compared to other cryptocurrencies, which gives it an advantage.

Bitcoin's value is also strengthened by its limited supply. More than 20 million of the possible 21 million units have already been mined. Additionally, the amount of new bitcoins decreases approximately every four years, which further restricts their supply. The next such reduction is expected in 2028.

Investing in Bitcoin became even easier in 2024 when the first exchange-traded funds related to it were approved in the US. As a result, purchasing Bitcoin became more accessible to both individual investors and large financial companies.

Furthermore, several countries have begun adding Bitcoin to their own reserves. All of this puts it in a better position compared to other cryptocurrencies.
