U.S. Regulator Challenges Hims & Hers Over Sharing Consumer Health Data

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission is preparing a lawsuit against Hims & Hers. According to the agency, the online medical platform promised users privacy protection, but shared their health-related information with advertising companies, including Meta and Snap.
According to the Commission, Hims & Hers collected user data on its website through user activity and tracking technologies and shared it with advertising companies.
The agency is also challenging Hims & Hers' payment practices. According to its information, the company charged users for medication before a consultation with a doctor. In many cases, users only filled out a questionnaire, after which the amount was charged immediately.
The lawsuit will also address the difficulty of canceling subscriptions. The case will be joined by Los Angeles County and the state of Utah along with the Federal Trade Commission.
Hims & Hers is one of the largest online medical service platforms. The company offers users medications for weight loss, hair loss, and mental health treatment.
