# The US Government Becomes a Shareholder in OpenAI

OpenAI's market value exceeds $850 billion, prompting the U.S. government to consider partnering with the company and acquiring a state stake. Negotiations between the White House administration and Sam Altman on this matter have been ongoing for over a year. According to President Trump's statement, the government also plans to invest in other leading technology companies, enabling the American people to become full partners in them. The initiative is linked to plans for establishing a national investment fund. Under the proposed model, OpenAI could transfer a portion of its own shares to the government. As a result, a fund would be created whose value would grow alongside the expansion of technology companies.
According to Trump's administration, a similar approach would allow citizens to benefit financially from the development of the artificial intelligence industry. Currently, the company is actively preparing for an initial public offering (IPO) on the stock exchange this year.
