Taiwanese companies' investments in the US to increase by a further $20 billion

Taiwanese companies plan to invest $20 billion in the US. According to Taiwan's economy minister, the decision is driven mainly by increased demand for AI-related products.

The minister did not specify which companies exactly will make the investments or how the funds will be allocated.

Taiwan holds a significant place in the global semiconductor industry. TSMC and numerous other chip-manufacturing companies operate in the country, participating in the supply of hardware needed for artificial intelligence.

The new investments also align with US policy, which aims to have a larger share of chip and other important technology production carried out domestically.

As demand for AI grows, companies increasingly need more chips, servers and other equipment required for data centers, which has made expansion in the US more attractive for Taiwanese manufacturers.
