Atlantic City Casinos Accused of Using Artificial Intelligence to Artificially Inflate Prices

A U.S. appeals court has ruled that a lawsuit against several major Atlantic City casinos will proceed.

According to the plaintiffs, several casinos were calculating hotel room prices using the same program, which, in their assessment, led to artificial price increases.

According to the lawsuit, the casinos provided hotel pricing and other data to the company Cendyn. Subsequently, Cendyn's Rainmaker program processed this information and recommended price changes to the hotels.

The appeals court determined that there is sufficient basis to examine these circumstances. The case involves Caesars Entertainment, MGM Resorts, and Hard Rock. The lower court rejected the lawsuit in 2024; however, following the appeals court's decision, the plaintiffs will obtain additional materials regarding the program's operations.
