Austria proposes collaboration with the European Union on Anthropic

US Restricts Tech Exports, Europe Seeks to Strengthen AI Sector
Against the backdrop of US restrictions on technological exports, Europe is attempting to strengthen its own artificial intelligence sector. Austria is urging the European Union to offer the American artificial intelligence company Anthropic the opportunity to relocate to the European bloc.
This initiative gained prominence after Washington restricted foreign countries' access to the company's latest models. Austria's state secretary for digital technologies, Alexander Priol, has already approached the European Commission with an official letter. According to his statement, the European Union should offer the technology giant legal guarantees, free access to the European market, and necessary financial capital. Austria's move aligns with the European Union's strategic objective to reduce dependence on American and Chinese artificial intelligence and develop its own digital infrastructure in the region.
