Deutsche Telekom Strengthens Position in Poland's Broadband Market with €1 Billion Deal

Deutsche Telekom has reached an agreement with Macquarie Asset Management to acquire a 100% stake in Polish telecommunications companies Fiberhost and Inea. The transaction enterprise value is approximately €1 billion.
The transaction will significantly strengthen T-Mobile Polska's position in Poland's fixed broadband market and accelerate the company's transformation from a mobile operator to a convergent telecommunications provider.
Fiberhost operates an open-access fixed network in Poland, while Inea provides broadband internet and television services to customers. Following the completion of the transaction, T-Mobile Polska's operations will add over 300,000 customers, and Fiberhost's fiber-optic network, which covers more than 1.4 million homes, will be integrated into the company's infrastructure.
According to Dominik Leroy, Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Telekom Europe, the transaction represents a significant milestone in T-Mobile Polska's development.
"By combining strong mobile and fiber-optic capabilities, we are strengthening the foundation for creating simpler and more reliable services for our customers," Leroy stated.
According to Andreas Maierhofer, Chief Executive Officer of T-Mobile Polska, the company's mobile network, national infrastructure, data centers, and fiber-optic infrastructure will now be complemented by its own Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) network, which serves up to 1.4 million households.
Following the completion of the transaction, Fiberhost will continue to ensure open access to its fiber-optic infrastructure for internet service providers operating in Poland and potential future providers.
The transaction requires approval from the appropriate regulatory authorities in Poland. The sellers include the Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 5 and other minority shareholders of the company.
