DoorDash's New Technology Orders on Behalf of the User

DoorDash has introduced a new technological tool, dd-cli, which enables artificial intelligence to search for restaurants, compare prices, and place orders independently.

The company's Chief Technology Officer, Andy Fang, demonstrated how the new system works in practice. During the demonstration, Claude found a restaurant, selected the desired dish, and paid for the order on its own.

At this stage, dd-cli is only available in test mode. Developers using macOS in the United States and Canada can use it, but they must register in advance.

DoorDash wants its service to connect with other digital assistants and smart home systems in the future. For example, orders could be placed automatically based on plans scheduled in a calendar or other daily needs, without the user having to open the DoorDash application themselves.

The technology is still in its early stages, but it is already clear that in the future, artificial intelligence will handle a portion of online orders on behalf of the user.
