Florida demands that Meta impose a two-hour daily limit for teenagers

Florida's Attorney General has petitioned the court, demanding that Meta impose restrictions related to minors. These restrictions concern Instagram and Facebook.
Florida wants Meta to identify and delete accounts of users under 14 in the state. Minors, meanwhile, would be allowed to use all of the company's apps for a maximum of two hours per day combined.
The state is also demanding that autoplay for videos be disabled for minors. After the daily two-hour limit is reached, they should no longer receive new notifications. In addition, the state is demanding a ban on advertising directed at minors.
Meta considers the demands unfounded. The company states that in August it already reached an agreement with 48 states and Washington that provides for additional changes to the platforms. The total value of the agreement could reach $18 billion.
Florida did not join this agreement. According to the state's authorities, the measures envisioned are not sufficient, and Meta should be subject to stricter rules to protect minors.
