Google Signs 3.6-Gigawatt Energy Agreement

Google has signed an agreement with Constellation Energy to purchase 3,590 megawatts of electricity. The deal is tied to the energy demand driven by the rapid expansion of data centers in the US.
Under the agreement, Constellation will spend more than $4.3 billion on its own nuclear power plants. The company will increase the capacity of 11 reactors located in Illinois, Pennsylvania and New Jersey, allowing them to generate more electricity. The first upgraded reactor with additional capacity will begin operating in 2028.
Google will purchase 890 megawatts from the nuclear plants over 20 years. An additional 15-year agreement was signed for 2,700 megawatts. This portion of the energy is not tied to a specific source and will be sourced from plants operating within the PJM grid.
