Intel and SK Hynix Are in Talks Over Memory Chip Production in the US

SK Hynix and Intel are holding talks on cooperation. If an agreement is reached, the South Korean company will begin producing memory chips in the US for the first time. One of Intel's American plants may be used for the project. The talks are still at an early stage, and no final agreement has been reached.

SK Hynix is one of the world's largest memory chip manufacturers and holds a significant position in the market for HBM (high-bandwidth memory), which is required for Nvidia's AI processors.

If an agreement is reached, Intel's American plants would receive more orders. In recent years, the company has spent billions of dollars on building new plants and developing chip manufacturing capabilities for other companies.

The US government is seeking to increase chip production domestically in order to reduce its dependence on semiconductors manufactured in Asia.
