Surging Demand for Artificial Intelligence Has Sharply Increased China's Exports

The growing global demand for artificial intelligence-related products has also impacted China's foreign trade. In June 2026, China's trade balance surplus reached $125.62 billion, compared to $105.43 billion in May.
China's exports grew by 27% compared to the same period of the previous year. The growth was primarily driven by increased demand for semiconductors and artificial intelligence-related products.
Semiconductor exports increased by 122%, while computer equipment exports grew by 53%.
Significant growth has also been recorded in the automotive sector. Against the backdrop of increased demand for electric vehicles, China's automobile exports rose by 72%.
During the same period, imports increased by 36%. However, according to economists' assessment, this figure is more closely linked to rising chip prices and the purchase of technological components rather than a sharp increase in domestic consumption within the country.
Despite strong foreign trade indicators, economists expect that China's economic growth will slow in the second quarter. As a result, it is anticipated that Beijing will implement new measures to support the economy.
