Meta and Reliance to Build Data Center in India

Meta and Reliance Industries have agreed to create a data center in India for artificial intelligence. The project will be implemented in Jamnagar, Gujarat state.
Under the agreement, Reliance will build a facility with a capacity of 168 megawatts, which Meta will lease and operate. The parties are also considering the possibility of expanding the center in the future.
The facility will operate on renewable energy. This project is a continuation of a joint initiative announced at the beginning of the year for $100 million, under which the companies plan to create artificial intelligence products for Indian businesses. For this purpose, they will use Meta's open-source Llama models.
For Meta, this step is part of a global plan to increase computational resources. The company plans to invest between $125 and $145 billion in this direction in 2026.
