Microsoft Limits Use of Claude AI

Microsoft has restricted its employees from using Anthropic's new model, Claude Fable 5, due to data security concerns. The decision followed an additional review process conducted by the company's legal team.

The issue relates to Anthropic's new data retention policies. According to the new policy, user requests and system responses are stored for 30 days. In certain cases, if the system detects potential violations of usage rules, the data retention period can be extended up to two years.

Microsoft's legal department is currently reviewing how well this approach aligns with the company's internal security requirements and whether Claude Fable 5 can be used in a corporate environment. Despite this, Claude Fable 5 is considered one of the most powerful models for programming, data analysis, and technical tasks. However, for Microsoft at this stage, the primary priority is protecting corporate data.

Anthropic's market positions are also strengthening rapidly. The company recently filed for an IPO, and its valuation has reached $965 billion, making it one of the largest players in the artificial intelligence sector.
