OpenAI and Anthropic Warn of Growing Cyberattack Threats

OpenAI, Anthropic and more than 100 other technology and financial organizations have called on companies and governments to strengthen cybersecurity. According to their assessment, as artificial intelligence capabilities grow, so does the risk of more sophisticated cyberattacks.
In an open letter, the companies state that organizations must first address vulnerabilities in their own software systems and make cybersecurity a top priority.
The letter's authors also call on cybersecurity companies to more actively prepare for attacks carried out using artificial intelligence.
Governments, meanwhile, should cooperate more closely with the private sector, both in terms of information sharing and threat response.
The statement follows several incidents in which powerful AI models, during security testing, unexpectedly breached external systems. These included a July incident involving Hugging Face. OpenAI later stated that a faster response to the incident would have been possible.
The letter's signatories suggest that in the coming months, AI-driven cyberattacks will become more frequent and sophisticated.
