OpenAI GPT-5.6 reduced pricing on several models by up to 80%

OpenAI has decided to reduce prices on several models in the GPT-5.6 series. According to the company, this became possible due to technical improvements and reduced service costs.

Most significantly, the Luna model — the series' fast and relatively affordable option — became cheaper by 80%. The mid-range Terra's price was reduced by 20%, with rates now at $2 and $12 respectively.

According to OpenAI's explanation, the optimization of the models, including improvements in code handling, reduced overall service costs by approximately 20%.

The most powerful model, Sol, maintained its base price unchanged, though it now includes a paid fast mode that processes responses approximately 2.5 times faster than the standard version.

With these price cuts, OpenAI aims to make its services more accessible to business clients amid growing competition, as companies are increasingly monitoring the costs of artificial intelligence use.
