**Unrest in France has also affected financial markets**

Amid protests sparked by rising prices and deteriorating public services, more questions have emerged about France's financial situation. Thousands of people were detained during the unrest, and several shops were looted.
Following the protests, it has become even less clear whether the government will be able to reduce the budget deficit and implement the planned changes. The yield on France's 10-year bonds rose to 4.9%. The spread with comparable German bonds reached 146 basis points.
French stocks also fell. The CAC 40 dropped by about 1.5%, while shares of BNP Paribas and Société Générale lost around 3%. According to Carrefour, losses resulting from the unrest amount to tens of millions of euros. Moody's will review France's credit rating on October 23.
