TCS to Build $7.4 Billion AI Data Center in India

HyperVault, a subsidiary of Indian IT company Tata Consultancy Services, and its partners will spend up to $7.4 billion building a data center designed for artificial intelligence.

The company has already acquired 264 acres of land in Hyderabad for the project. The center will be built in phases and, once completed, will reach a capacity of 1 gigawatt.

The facility will serve AI companies and major cloud platforms. It will house a large number of specialized chips needed for building and running AI models.

According to HyperVault, once completed, this will be one of the largest data centers built for artificial intelligence in India.

TCS has recently been expanding beyond traditional IT services as well. A few days earlier, the company signed an agreement to acquire MHP, Porsche's consulting and automotive technology company.

Major technology companies are building more and more data centers for AI development, since running new models requires substantial computing resources and electricity.
