Trump Creates New Group to Coordinate Artificial Intelligence Policy

US President Donald Trump has tasked a new government group with coordinating policy related to artificial intelligence. The group, which the administration has named the "Super Intelligence Force," will be led by Jay Clayton.
Over the course of 120 days, the group is to assess the opportunities and risks associated with the development of artificial intelligence. The report it prepares must also determine what role the federal government will play, how AI-related incidents will be recorded, and how agencies should respond to cyberattacks and other security issues.
The group will also include Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Pentagon technology chief Emil Michael, and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor. They will present the prepared report to the President and the White House Chief of Staff.
Trump favors less strict regulation in the field of artificial intelligence. In his assessment, excessive restrictions could put the US at a disadvantage in technological competition with China. In the course of its work, the new group will also meet with technology companies, consumers, and other interested parties.
