US Stock Futures Rise — Investors Await Tech Giants' Earnings and the Fed's Decision

US stock index futures edged higher on Tuesday as investors' attention this week is focused on earnings reports from major technology companies and the Federal Reserve's (Fed) interest rate decision.

As of 07:02 ET, S&P 500 futures rose 21 points, or 0.3%. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 0.4%, up 129 points, while Dow Jones futures rose 158 points, or 0.3%.

On Monday, the major indices on Wall Street closed in positive territory. The gains were driven by renewed investor interest in technology stocks that had recently suffered sharp declines, as well as by the filing submitted by AI startup Anthropic for an initial public offering (IPO). The S&P 500 rose 0.7%, the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.8%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average strengthened by 0.28%.

Anthropic's filing highlighted the company's ambitious growth plans and rapid revenue expansion. At the same time, it once again underscored the high cost of developing and scaling advanced AI models. In the first half of 2026, the company's net loss grew to approximately $80.7 billion, five times higher than in the corresponding period a year earlier.

Anthropic's shares are expected to trade under the ticker ANT. The company's potential market valuation is estimated at around $1.5 trillion, below the previously discussed forecast of $2 trillion.

Anthropic's IPO is planned at a time when investors are becoming increasingly critical of the massive investments being made in the AI sector. Market participants are questioning whether companies that are financing infrastructure development largely through debt will be able to generate revenue commensurate with the costs incurred. This concern has intensified pressure on technology and AI-related stock prices over the past two weeks.

This week, investors are looking for additional cues from the earnings reports of major technology companies. Alphabet and Microsoft will release their third-quarter results on Wednesday, while Amazon will report on Thursday. On Tuesday, financial results will also be published by memory chip maker Seagate Technology, aircraft manufacturer Boeing, and copper miner Freeport-McMoRan.

Meta Platforms also remains in the market's spotlight. Nvidia announced plans to invest $3 billion in Meta's share offering. This move is part of the expanding AI partnership between the two companies and is linked to the development of Meta's infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the Fed's two-day meeting begins on Tuesday. The market widely expects the central bank to keep interest rates unchanged following the meeting. In September, the Fed raised rates — its first increase since 2023.

Investors will be paying close attention to statements from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh for further clues about the direction of monetary policy. Last month, Warsh noted that persistent inflation could strengthen the case for additional rate hikes.

On Thursday, the US will also release third-quarter gross domestic product (GDP) data and the September Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index — an inflation gauge that the Fed considers particularly important.

As a result, market direction this week will be shaped by several factors simultaneously: earnings results from tech giants, the assessment of AI investment profitability, and the outlook for the Fed's interest rate policy.
