Volkswagen plans to halt production at four factories in Germany

Volkswagen's management board is planning a proposal under which car production at four plants in Germany will be gradually discontinued between 2031 and 2034, according to the German business publication WirtschaftsWoche.

According to the publication, which cites a supervisory board document:

  • Production at the Emden plant will end in 2031;
  • At the Zwickau plant — also in 2031;
  • In Hanover — in 2032;
  • In Neckarsulm — in 2034.

A meeting of Volkswagen's supervisory board is scheduled for Friday, where the issue is expected to be discussed.

A Volkswagen representative stated that the company does not comment on the contents of supervisory board documents.
