Bitcoin's Price Has Risen - Cheaper Oil Has Brought Some Relief to the Crypto Market

Bitcoin's price rose on Monday, recovering part of last week's losses. The cryptocurrency market was supported by a decline in oil prices, which was linked to growing expectations of a possible ceasefire agreement between Russia and Ukraine.

The price of Bitcoin, the world's largest cryptocurrency, rose 0.6% to $83,593.2 by 05:07 am Eastern Time. Bitcoin had previously lost around 2% last week, a decline that was also driven by capital outflows from US-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs.

Other major cryptocurrencies also saw price gains on Monday. This marked a partial recovery for the market following the weak momentum seen in early October.

Cheaper oil supported risk asset markets

Oil prices fell on Monday after US President Donald Trump unexpectedly announced an "energy truce" between Russia and Ukraine. Although Moscow and Kyiv have not yet confirmed the agreement, the announcement raised hopes for improved global energy supply.

At the same time, Washington was pressuring Ukraine to accept a ceasefire agreement with Russia. This reinforced expectations that the two sides might eventually move toward a peace settlement.

Oil prices fell by nearly 2% on Monday, though they later recovered part of the loss. The market still harbored concerns over potential disruptions to energy supply from the Middle East, as well as risks related to oil production on the US Gulf Coast.

The decline in oil prices partially eased concerns about inflation remaining elevated for a prolonged period and about rising interest rates. This, in turn, provided some support to the prices of Bitcoin and other risk assets.

Despite Monday's recovery, the future direction of the crypto market will continue to depend on geopolitical developments, energy prices, and the outlook for US monetary policy.
