DeepSeek Builds Data Center in Inner Mongolia

Chinese artificial intelligence company DeepSeek is planning to build a one-gigawatt data center in Mongolia's Inner Autonomous Region. According to Bloomberg, the project will help the company compete with leading artificial intelligence models from Silicon Valley.
The facility will be located in Ulanqab, approximately 350 kilometers from Beijing. Along with building its own infrastructure, DeepSeek also plans to lease additional capacity from other companies.
According to permits issued by local authorities, more than ten companies are working on data center projects in Ulanqab. DeepSeek aims to have part of the facility operational by the end of 2027 or the beginning of 2028.
It is not yet known which chips the company will use. Nvidia processors are predominantly used in artificial intelligence data centers, though Huawei's position in this direction is strengthening in China.
