Democrats Won Both Chambers of Congress: What Could Change for Business

In the US midterm elections, Democrats won a majority in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. As a result, confrontation with Congress could intensify during the remaining two years of Donald Trump's presidency, making it harder to pass new legislation.
For the tech sector, the main concern is the possible introduction of stricter oversight in the fields of artificial intelligence and cryptocurrencies. Approval of new data center projects could also become more difficult.
At the same time, the president retains veto power, while tariffs, trade policy and foreign relations remain in the hands of the White House.
On the budget side, Democratic control could make it harder to approve new spending. In 2027, the government and Congress will also need to agree on raising the maximum limit on the national debt.
