Iran Offers US to Reopen the Strait of Hormuz Within Two Days

Iran says it is ready to restore shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz within two days if the US agrees to its conditions. According to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, instead of the seven-day plan originally discussed, the American side must take the agreed steps on the very first day, with navigation to resume on the second day.

Tehran is demanding the easing of sanctions, the return of frozen funds, and a reduction in restrictions on oil sales. The demands also include recognition of a maritime route agreed with Oman and a reduction of US military forces in the region.

According to Donald Trump, negotiations are moving forward, although the possibility of new military strikes still remains. A direct meeting between the US and Iran is not planned at this stage, and Qatar is mediating between the two sides.

The situation in the Strait of Hormuz remains tense. According to Iran, one tanker caught fire after hitting a mine, while 144 commercial vessels have had to reroute due to the US blockade. Restoring traffic in the strait will be of major importance for global oil and gas supply.
