Lucid and Bolt Plan to Launch 25,000 Robotaxis in Europe

Electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid and European transportation platform Bolt have agreed to launch at least 25,000 self-driving vehicles in Europe. Under the project, Lucid's robotaxis will appear outside the US for the first time.

The vehicles will be built on Lucid's upcoming Midsize platform and will use Nvidia's Hyperion technology. They are designed for Level 4 autonomous driving, meaning such a vehicle can travel within a defined area without driver intervention.

Bolt will operate the fleet itself and will also be responsible for organizing charging infrastructure and cooperation with cities. The company aims to deploy 100,000 autonomous vehicles on its platform by 2035.

Lucid has a similar project in the US as well. The company is partnering with Uber and Nuro, and under that agreement at least 35,000 vehicles are planned for launch.

The companies have not yet disclosed the value of the European project or the timeline for the full rollout of the 25,000 vehicles.
