Maruti Suzuki Expects Sharp Increase in Demand for Automobiles in India

According to Maruti Suzuki's projections, annual sales of passenger vehicles in India will grow to 6.1-6.3 million units for the 2030-31 fiscal year. The company attributes this growth to the recovery in demand for small-sized vehicles and increased interest in SUV models.
In the 2025-26 fiscal year, Maruti Suzuki sold a record 2.42 million vehicles, with exports exceeding 447,000 units. To expand production capacity, the company plans to invest approximately 350 billion rupees, or $4 billion. The goal is to increase annual production to 3.65 million vehicles by 2031.
Maruti Suzuki also plans to launch seven new models over the next 5-6 years. At the same time, the company will spend 5.61 billion rupees on building four biogas plants to reduce its dependence on imported natural gas.
To mitigate the risk of supply disruptions, Maruti Suzuki is working to manufacture more components domestically and increase the number of suppliers.
