Qualcomm will develop devices for Starlink Mobile's network

Qualcomm has signed a multi-year agreement with SpaceX. The company will develop tower equipment and the necessary software for Starlink Mobile's planned mobile network.

SpaceX is seeking to build its own mobile network in the country. The plan envisions combining satellite connectivity with ground-based towers, which would allow the company to compete with AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile.

For Qualcomm, this is its largest contract in the mobile networks space. The deal's value was not disclosed. Through this move, the company is seeking to expand beyond smartphone chips into the telecommunications equipment market.
