# SoftBank's Investment in France Grows to 75 Billion Euros

One of Europe's Most Ambitious Artificial Intelligence Projects Begins

SoftBank Group is launching one of Europe's most significant artificial intelligence initiatives. The corporation plans to invest up to €75 billion in France for the construction and operation of artificial intelligence data centers, which will provide a total capacity of 5 gigawatts. This decision is part of an initiative by President Emmanuel Macron and envisages the allocation of €45 billion in the first phase to develop 3.1 gigawatts of infrastructure capacity in the Île-de-France region by 2031. The initial phase of the project includes facilities in Dunkirk, Boscles, and Bouchene, aimed at meeting growing demand from artificial intelligence companies, cloud providers, and research organizations for high-performance computing capabilities. Additionally, SoftBank, in partnership with Schneider Electric, will create manufacturing space at the Port of Dunkirk, where components necessary for the data center will be produced. This project will help Europe develop local production capacity for this type of technology. The investment will create thousands of qualified jobs and will support research and development partnerships with French universities.
