Trump announces that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to stop attacks on energy facilities

According to US President Donald Trump, Russia and Ukraine have agreed to immediately halt attacks on energy facilities. Details of the agreement remain unknown for now, and Moscow has not officially confirmed its existence.

According to Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine supports such an agreement, though it is waiting for specific terms and security guarantees from Washington. Previously, Kyiv had stated that it would only stop strikes on Russian oil refineries if Moscow also halted attacks on Ukraine's energy facilities.

Trump also links Ukraine's strikes on Russian oil facilities to rising diesel prices in the US. On Friday, he announced another agreement with Russia, under which more than 300,000 tons of Russian diesel are to be sold on American and international markets. This will require a temporary exemption from sanctions currently in effect on Russian fuel.

This move has drawn criticism from both American lawmakers and Ukrainian authorities. According to analysts, the volume involved is relatively small, so its impact on global prices is unlikely to be long-lasting.
