Wall Street Reaches New Record – Markets Bolstered by Optimistic Signals from the Middle East

The US stock market opened Tuesday's trading session with strong growth and recorded new historic highs. Investor sentiment was significantly improved by declining oil prices and reduced US government bond yields, compounded by circulating reports of possible diplomatic progress between Iran and the US.

Shortly after the start of trading, the S&P 500, Dow Jones, and Nasdaq indices rose sharply, with the S&P 500 and Dow Jones renewing their record levels. Market participants believe that the prospect of reduced tensions in the Middle East eases pressure on energy carrier prices, which also reduces risks of inflation and interest rate increases.

Additional optimism was generated by a statement from US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, according to which Washington and Tehran are close to reaching an agreement. By his assessment, the agreement could be formalized in the coming days and ensure full opening of the Strait of Hormuz, which is critically important for global energy supply.

Qatar is actively involved in the negotiation process, playing the role of mediator between the parties. According to circulating information, a draft agreement has already been prepared and is being discussed among the negotiation participants, though an official agreement has not yet been reached.

The anticipation of diplomatic progress also prompted a swift market reaction in the oil sector. Despite Brent and WTI prices rising at the beginning of the day, they subsequently fell sharply. The decline in oil prices also reduced US government bond yields, which investors interpreted as a positive signal.

Despite positive sentiment, tensions in the region have not been fully defused. Reports of new attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and mutually exclusive statements from Iran and the US continue to create uncertainty. However, at this stage, financial markets are primarily focused on the possibility of a diplomatic agreement.

One of the day's major events is also considered the publication of SpaceX's first quarter financial report, which investors are awaiting after the end of the trading session. The company's results could have additional impact on both the technology sector and the overall US stock market.
